Juniper Training Roofing Apprenticeships

From 2025, due to soaring demand, Juniper will be running two cohorts of Roof Sheeting and Cladding Apprentices, two cohorts of Roof Slating and Tiling apprentices, and two cohorts of Roofing apprentices.
Juniper has been delivering the Level 2 Roofing Apprenticeships in three disciplines, including Sheeting and Cladding, Slating and Tiling, and Waterproofing for the last four years. They have achieved some fantastic outcomes, including a 100% pass rate for all learners that reach an end point assessment (EPA), along with an above average achievement of distinction grades.
The delivery model means apprentices spend every fifth week on their ‘off the job’ training at Juniper’s Aldridge site near Wolverhampton. Many CITB levy paying employers take advantage of CITB’s Travel to Train incentive, allowing them to recover the costs of apprentices staying in a local hotel for the four nights they are training with Juniper.
Juniper’s Free Roofing Apprenticeship Recruitment Service
Juniper has recently been working with national roofing contractors, BriggsAmasco to help recruit some new apprentices for four of their regional offices around the UK. Juniper advertised the roles, reviewed and vetted over 240 applications, performed initial remote interviews then recommended four good candidates for each area to be interviewed by BriggsAmasco. From this, five apprenticeships were offered and began their new roles and training with Juniper in January 2025 alongside some existing BriggsAmasco employees.
The numbers of those applying for the apprenticeship vacancies demonstrates that there are quality people looking to get into the roofing industry.
If you would like any more information about any of Juniper’s services or would like to collaborate or support, please contact Karen Jackson at karen.jackson@junipertraining.co.uk who would be delighted to assist.

Wellbeing initiatives for the workplace – Webinar
This is a 1-hour webinar exploring the importance of wellbeing initiative practices in the workplace for organisations of all sizes.
Held online via Zoom, the course will take place on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
- The average rate of employee sickness absence (7.8 days per employee), is at the highest level reported for over a decade (CIPD)
- 76% report stress-related absence – mental health remains the most common focus of wellbeing activity (CIPD)
- 82% of UK construction workers experience mental health problems due to work-related issues. Two workers take their own lives every day (IGPP)
- The main benefits of health and wellbeing activity are better employee morale and engagement, a healthier and more inclusive culture and better work-life balance (CIPD)
What is the session about?
It’s never been more important for organisations of all sizes to support employee wellbeing. Mental health issues along with musculoskeletal disorders account for the largest causes of sickness absence in construction, yet Chartered Institute of Building research shows that 56% of construction workers work for organisations with no wellbeing initiatives in place.
An effective workplace wellbeing programme that’s right for your business will help to create an inclusive, supportive culture where individuals can perform to their full potential and feel safe to raise issues of concern at an early stage.
There are also significant business benefits. CIPD research found the key benefits of effective wellbeing programmes are:
- Better employee morale and engagement, leading to increased performance and decreased employee turnover
- A healthier and more inclusive culture and significantly less sickness absence
- Better work-life balance and improved mental health and wellbeing
The webinar is for anyone working in the construction industry who is responsible for workers mental health and wellbeing.
